A Set of Housey Money: Halfpenny, Penny and the Scarce Sixpence

Active

Between 1800 and 1862, spanning the date of the first Founder's Day Dinner, CH issued its own coins, a halfpenny, a penny and a sixpence, known as Housey Money. They were specially minted for pupils, who had to exchange real money for them and spend them in the school shop. On offer is a set of all three coins, including the scarce sixpence, which is rarely offered for sale. Includes a copy of the CH Heritage Series booklet 'Badges, Prizes and Tokens'. Proceeds shared equally between Christ's Hospital and the CH Museum.

Founder's Day Dinner

Old Blues of Christ's Hospital have gathered to dine on record since 1826 — and very likely before that — celebrating the birthday of King Edward VI and uniting generations of former pupils.
